About Health Coaching

As a health coach I partner with you providing the focused attention and support that health care providers may not have the time or training to provide. An expert diagnoses and prescribes. A coach practices active and reflective listening, asks open ended questions, summarizes, supports, empathizes, and educates. A health coach is trained in lifestyle and behavior change, and is qualified to support dietary interventions and other treatment plans prescribed by a healthcare practitioner. 

 

My expertise in the healing journey comes from my eleven year lived experience with a chronic illness; National Board Certification in Health and Wellness Coaching, certification in Functional Medicine Health Coaching, Mind Dynamics Life Coaching, and Essential Hypnotherapy Skills; and six years coaching experience.

 

Disclaimer: I am not a psychologist, a nutritionist, or a healthcare practitioner. However, I introduce the basics of many healing modalities and happily refer you to other resources and experts in these fields for any further treatment needs.

Choosing A Health Coach

I share My Journey Through the Health Wilderness so that clients have knowledge of my personal challenges. I want to know when seeking my own health coach that they can fully identify with the experience of battling a chronic autoimmune disorder or other chronic condition. What we learn through the experience of chronic illness, no amount of schooling or qualifications can ever provide. Knowing that your health coach shares the essential components of your experience instills confidence that you will be heard and understood. This natural connection between a coach and their client, fostered by the common experience of health impacts and health anxiety, is the difference between a coach and an expert. It also helps you choose the coach who is right for you. You are the expert in your own health, and you are the director of your own healing journey.


There is no contest for who suffers most or worst. There is only a developed empathy for how suffering, however rare or common the disease, uniquely impacts each person. It is not the number of chronic health conditions one suffers, or the number of failures to accurately diagnose, but rather the magnitude and impact of even one chronic condition that generates traumatic health anxiety. By recognizing the complex humanity and uniqueness of each person, the health coach provides hope for mental/emotional, physical, and spiritual healing. 
 

Our need to find a personal path to healing and wholeness grows out of this mystery of physical suffering. Too often medical confusion or indecision results in more health setbacks and loss. Our healing journeys do not discount the miracles of medical science, but recognize its limitations while legitimizing personal responsibility to discover one’s own healing path. The health coach works alongside practitioners and specialists to help provide the client with those often missing essential ingredients: courage, self-inquiry, compassion, balance, insight and hope.

How Do Mind Dynamics and Hypnotherapy Fit In?

Certifications in Mind Dynamics and Essential Hypnotherapy Skills have transformed my coaching approach, while contributing to my personal healing journey.

 

Mind Dynamics is a personalized, focused approach to practicing mindfulness in your moment to moment decision-making and to transform your mindset around any area of your life. As a trained Mind Dynamics Life Coach I help clients learn how the subconscious mind works, and how to experience the healing power of accessing and transforming the subconscious mind. By educating my clients about the structure of the mind, ultradian states, why belief is stronger than willpower, the importance of bypassing the critical factor (ego), and the language of the subconscious, clients gain a sense of control and self-trust as they experience freedom from destructive behaviors, thoughts, and patterns of belief. 

Essential Hypnotherapy utilizes The Rules of Suggestion and Personalized Inductions and Suggestions using a client's Dominant Representation System. Hypnotherapy complements Mind Dynamics by allowing the coach to facilitate the client’s immersion into the subconscious to remove blocks and to promote growth and transformation. I feel honored to serve as a facilitator and witness to the healing that occurs by implementing Mind Dynamics and Essential Hypnotherapy Skills with clients, watching their Ideal Self emerge and their perspective and self-concept shift from impossibility to possibility through the power of suggestion.

Whether you are a young adult, parent of a child who identifies as neurodiverse, or are simply looking for person-centered, holistic educational coaching K-12 and beyond, these specialized sessions are a safe space providing personalized support and encouragement, while fostering increased self-awareness, confidence, and joy for learning. 


I have a decade of experience coaching neurodiverse children and young adults (autism, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, other neurological conditions, and more) witnessing them grow into confident, self-assured, autonomous, and socially/ emotionally aware individuals with a love of learning and creative self-expression. Witness to this growth has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
